UEDC conducts dish garden training for Oton LGU

The University Extension and Development Center in cooperation with the LGU of Oton conducted a Training on Dish Garden Production for members of  Oton Cut Flower Association Inc. (OCAI) last November 14, 2017 at FITS Center-Oton. The municipality is known for its thriving horticulture industry and landscaping/gardening businesses. OCAI is one of UEDC's active local linkages that regularly requests for agri-related trainings from West Visayas State University. Dish gardening is a type of urban agriculture that can be fulfilling, fun and profitable.

Dr. Geronimo Gregorio, a retired agriculture professor from Capiz State University and cut flower pioneer in Oton served as the training resource person. During the hands-on training, the participants learned how to choose different types of plants and accessories suitable for dish gardens. A demonstration on how to set-up a dish garden was the highlight of the training. The training ended with a session on how to maintain and care for dish gardens.
