Dr. Ricky Becodo, Extension Director of WVSU-University Extension and Development Center (UEDC) facilitated the installation of a Community Audio Tower System (CATS) in Sitio Kulong-Kulong in Zarraga, Iloilo.
CATS is a public address system that enables operators to disseminate information and announcements to a community. The donation is composed of two trumpet horn speakers, mixer, synthesizer, microphones, mic stands, cables and installation cost.

Residents of Sitio Kulong Kulong, a geographically isolated barangay in Zaragga, Iloilo Province will benefit from the CATS since it will enable them to quickly disseminate important information and urgent announcements. According to the residents, the communication system will also enhance the community's cultural, social and religious interactions.
Faculty members from the College of Communication joined Dr. Becodo during the turnover, workshop and installation event held in the sitio from November 15 to 19, 2021.

“The CATS brings many benefits to our community,” said a barangay kagawad in Hiligaynon. “Our community will be more connected and better informed. While we go about our daily work, we can always listen to prayers, songs, programs and announcements.”
The team facilitated modules on broadcasting ethics, interviewing and radio programming, radio forum, and school in the air. Upon installing the CATS, the barangay kagawads, tanods, and volunteers experienced onsite training and program simulation activities. (Napoleon G. Almonte/COC)
