UEDC attends NIA-IDP region VI convergence 2023

University Extension and Development Center of West Visayas State University participated in the National Irrigation Administration– Institutional Development Program (NIA-IDP) Region VI Convergence (Symposium) 2023 with the theme “Bringing the Government Programs to the Farmers through NIA - IDP” last March 15, 2023 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The convergence aimed to establish a strong partnership among government agencies and Irrigator’s associations/farmers.

The symposium was supported by Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), National Food Authority (NFA), Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech). These agencies presented their respective programs/projects which can be availed by the members/farmers of NIA – Irrigators’ Associations.

Moreover, Dr. Ricky P. Becodo, UEDC director, shared one of the functions of WVSU which is to extend expertise in empowering communities like technology transfer, capacity building, and policy lobbying to assist partner agencies’ program/project implementors and cooperators from Irrigators’ Associations.
