The CARES (Cooperative Assistance to Registration and Education Services) extension program of the College of Business and Management has completed its project development cycle and as such, a closing ceremony was held on April 15, 2025 to turn over IEC materials to project beneficiaries from Iloilo Taxi Transport Cooperative (ITTC). Dr. Maria Corazon Samorin, project leader of CARES project oriented the beneficiaries on the use and dissemination of IEC materials that are indispensable sources of knowledge and information in running a successful and sustainable transport cooperative.

Bring your bayongs or eco-bags this January 27, 2025 for the opening of the first monthly Kadiwa sa WVSU, a farmer's market presented by the Department of Agriculture-Western Visayas in collaboration with West Visayas State University. Kadiwa sa WVSU promises to be a unique and convenient farm-to-table market experience for the WVSU community and nearby barangays. Locally grown, high-value upland fruits and vegetables as well as small batch handmade food products will be available for sale. This marketing platform will benefit local farmers' cooperatives and people's organizations seeking to mutually enhance accessibility to fresh agricultural products while promoting the health and well-being of the WVSU community.
The Kadiwa sa WVSU farm stand will be located at the Rizal Hall grounds/lobby from January 27-31 during the the University Week 2025 Exhibits. Thereafter, the activity will be regularly held once a month on a given schedule.

Batad, Iloilo—The newly elected officers of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) VI Extension Managers’ Council (EMC) for the term 2025–2026 took their oath of office on November 25, 2024, at the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) - Batad Campus.
Dr. Ricky P. Becodo of West Visayas State University (WVSU) was reelected as Chairperson for another term, reflecting the trust and confidence of the region’s extension leaders in his leadership. Joining him are Dr. Adrienne D. Veloso of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISATU) as Vice Chair, Dr. Joana Paula B. Binas of Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) as Secretary, Prof. Jocelyn S. Legaspi of Capiz State University (CAPSU) as Treasurer, Dr. Wilfredo H. Muhat from the University of Antique (UA) as Business Manager, Dr. Nenia N. Bohulano of Aklan State University (ASU) as Auditor, and Dr. Rene Jun B. Belgica of NISU and Dr. Margie Y. Dela Cruz of Guimaras State University (GSU) as Public Relations Officers. The Board of Directors includes Dr. Roger Ray S. Manzano of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU), Dr. Jimmy O. Degillo of Central Philippines State University (CPSU), Dr. Vanessa T. Cayacay of Sibalom Northern Negros State University (SUNN), and Mr. Paul S. Magbanua of Philippine Normal University - Visayas (PNU-Visayas). Immediate Ex-Officio Officers are Dr. Jeanette Bayona and Dr. Marie Ann Raymaro.
During Dr. Becodo's first term, the EMC successfully conducted research on the strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement in extension activities across Region VI. The council also focused on capacitating SUC faculty for third-party impact assessments and promoting research-based extension projects through various capacity-building initiatives. These efforts have set a strong foundation for continued collaboration and innovation among SUCs in the region.
The PASUC VI EMC is committed to supporting each SUC in strengthening extension services through collaborative capacity-building programs, research, and symposiums aimed at enhancing the quality of extension delivery in Region VI.
The oath-taking ceremony marks the beginning of a new term for the council, which continues to serve as a vital force in driving regional development through extension programs.
