WVSU showcases Darag chicken technology in 2019 FIESTA



Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVAARRDEC) and DOST- PCAARRD conducted  a techno promotional event entitled 2019 FIESTA (Farms and Industry Encounters through Science and Technology Agenda) last April 8-10, 2019 at Dadivas Gym in Capiz State University in Roxas City, Capiz.  Dubbed "Iririmaw sa Pagtukib kag Pag-Uswag" (Convergence in Research and Development), the successful 3-day event showcased five Region 6 priority commodities namely Darag native chicken, mango, green mussels, muscovado sugar and bamboo.   

Consortium member agencies composed of state universities and colleges as well as regional line agencies involved in agriculture, aquatic, forestry and natural resource (AAFNR) sectors shared their expertise and knowledge in various activities such as exhibits, techno, media and business fora, lectures, cooking contests and more.

West Visayas State University through University Extension and Development Center (UEDC) and University Research and Development Center (URDC) showcased mature technology of Darag native chicken production which is ripe for commercialization and technology transfer. Meanwhile, technology adopter group Panay Darag Breeders (PADABA) showcased  live Darag chickens and offered offered Darag native chickens for breeding and laying.

2019 FIESTA was well attended by students, teachers, partner agencies, agri-preneurs and stakeholders in the AAFNR sector.
