Abing's Darag chicken hub opens in Iloilo City

Abing's Darag Chicken Trading, the first specialty native chicken hub in Iloilo City is now open to the public. Conveniently located  at WVSU Cooperative Complex corner E. Lopez-Mission Road in Lapaz district, the hub offers Ilonggos a healthier and tastier alternative to commercially grown chicken.  Compared to commercially bred chicken, Darag native chicken's popularity rests on its distinct flavor   thanks to its free-range growing protocols. Aside from being a one-stop shop for Darag products, the hub  also offers homestyle Filipino comfort food and snacks made with Darag native chicken such as arroz caldo, tinolang manok, chicken inasal and other classic homegrown dishes. Consumers who want to prepare Darag native chicken dishes at home can also avail of freshly dressed chicken and other integrated farming fresh produce for a truly satisfying farm-to-table meal experience.

Abing's Darag Chicken Trading is named after Dr. Bernabe Cocjin dubbed the "Father of Darag Native Chicken" and former West Visayas State University president who was instrumental in developing the Darag native chicken breed with the support of Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry, and Resources Research and Development and WVSU researchers.  The hub is is owned and managed by farmer-entrepreneur and PADABA (Panay Darag Breeders Association) president Mrs. Mae Gerbacia.
