The College of Medicine joined the West Visayas State University Medical Center and the Iloilo Provincial Health Office in the COVID-19 information campaign and vaccination roll-out which started last January 12, 2022 at the Cultural Center of West Visayas State University in Lapaz, Iloilo City.
Residents queued at the Cultural Center early in the morning as the activity started at 8 am. Around five hundred pediatrics and adult patients participated. They were enthusiastic to keep themselves and their families protected from the virus that continue to plague the country as they received their first, second and booster doses.. They were appreciative of the knowledge imparted especially on the common side effects and the measures that should be undertaken in order to lessen the discomfort if such side effects occur.
The College of Medicine through Dr. Anastacio S. Rufon, Jr. expressed gratitude to Dr. Fejelia D. Diocares-Faulan, University Vaccination Coordinator, and the Iloilo Provincial Health Office for the opportunity to be of service to those in need during these trying times. He manisfeted the readiness of the College to be involved in similar undertakings in the future. He also acknowledged the assistance provided as resource persons by Drs. Catherine Borreros, Natalie Deslate, Ma. Lucille S. Rufon, Ma. Iris V. Salazar, Estee Joy A. Semolava and Prof. Eden Saladar. The support and facilitation by Lezlie Cabrejas and Noemi Tagolimot of the College of Medicine, and other health volunteers and advocates , did not go unnoticed. (College of Medicine)
