WVSU-University Extension and Development Center in cooperation with the Municipality of Sara conducted a Training on Pricing of Darag Products and Health Management Practices for 41 farmer-beneficiaries last April 20, 2023 at Sara Gym. This activity is part of the Darag Native Chicken Production and Marketing Project: A Livelihood Initiative Towards Achieving Food Sufficiency and Economic Recovery amid COVID-19 in Western Visayas. Dr. Helen G. Genandoy, Faculty of College of Agriculture served as resource person.
The training was divided into three main topics: (1) Pricing of Darag Products and Workshop on the Computation of Suggested Retail Price; (2) Health and Sanitation Management and (3) Vaccination and Quarantine. Workshops and demos followed after each topic were discussed. Darag raisers from Barangays Malapaya, Ardemil and Latawan from the Municipality of Sara shared their experiences on how they market their products on social media, particularly Facebook and also their Darag chicken health management practices.
The Darag chicken project in Sara is strongly supported by LGU officials led by Municipal Mayor Jon N. Aying and the committees on health, public sanitation, agriculture, cooperatives. The Municipal Government Livelihood Assistance Division (MGLAD) led by Mr. Argeo Porquez continuously monitors the progress of the said project.
