WVSU Hosts Hybrid Seminar on Thermodynamics and Sustainable Energy Innovations



West Visayas State University (WVSU) held a free hybrid seminar titled “Thermodynamics in Action: From Waste Heat Recovery to Solar Energy Conversion” on April 20, 2026, in Iloilo City, gathering students, researchers, and professionals to explore sustainable energy solutions. 
 
Hosted onsite at the Research and Extension Building and streamed via Zoom, the event featured key talks by Engr. La Verne Ramir D.T. Certeza of the National University of Singapore on optimizing energy-based industrial symbiosis networks, and Dr. Bernice Mae Yu Jeco-Espaldon, a DOST Balik Scientist from The University of Tokyo, who discussed photovoltaic energy conversion, including materials, efficiency limits, and system losses. 
 
The program, led by WVSU officials including Dr. Greta G. Gabinete and Dr. Geneveve P. Lachica, also included an open forum that encouraged participant engagement, underscoring the university’s commitment to advancing research and innovation in sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.
