The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) conducted a workshop for the clustering of Farms and Industry Encounters through Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) and other enhancement initiatives last April 15-16, 2019 at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati City. The workshop was held a week after WESVAARRDEC conducted its 2019 FIESTA at Capiz State University.
Ms. Fe Encotro, officer-in-charge of University Extension and Development Center's training section attended the said workshop. During the two-day event, the participants discussed how the consortia can work together to conduct a FIESTA that will showcase similar commodities of participating regions. A consortia cluster was formed involving research and extension for native chickens such as Zampen, Boholano, Camarines and Panay's purified breed, the Darag native chicken.
It is expected that after the workshop, the participants will be able to to learn the requirements needed to conduct a FIESTA activity, follow timelines for the submission of proposals and forge new linkages with state university and colleges that are following the footsteps of institutions purifying a native chicken breed such as West Visayas State University.
